How the close works

Closing a month in Recurso is a sequence of read-and-verify steps across the Finance reports and Ledger & audit sections. Nothing here mutates your books — the ledger posts automatically as invoices and payments settle — so the close is about confirming everything agrees, recognizing the period’s revenue, and exporting what your accountant needs.
Do these in order. Reconciliation first tells you whether the books even agree; there’s no point recognizing revenue on top of an unbalanced ledger.

Steps

1

Reconcile

Open Finance reports → Reconciliation and click Run again. It checks that billing records, the Postgres ledger, and TigerBeetle (when enabled) all agree. The goal is Books balanced“Every invoice and payment agrees with the ledger.” If discrepancies are listed (missing/mismatched transactions, orphaned entries), resolve them and re-run before continuing.
2

Prove the trial balance

Open Finance reports → Trial Balance. The banner should read Books balance — total debits equal total credits, and every account carries its expected sign. Scan the accounts table for any abnormal (wrong-sign) balances. Use Export GL (CSV) to hand the general ledger to your accountant.
3

Spot-check the ledger

Open Ledger & audit → Ledger to drill into any account that looked off. Pick an account (each customer has its own Accounts Receivable sub-account) to see its current balance and its double-entry transactions — debit account, credit account, amount, and code — for the period.
4

Recognize revenue

Open Finance reports → Revenue Recognition and select the month and year you’re closing. Review Recognized in <month> (earned revenue booked this period) and the Deferred balance still to recognize, plus the Release schedule showing when the remaining deferred revenue recognizes. Multi-currency deferrals are broken out in Deferred by currency.
5

Review receivables aging

Open Finance reports → Invoice Aging to see outstanding receivables bucketed by how far past due they are (Current, 1–30, 31–60, 61–90, 90+). The stat cards summarize Total outstanding, Overdue, and Current — use this to flag collections follow-ups before you sign off.
If Reconciliation or Trial Balance reports an imbalance, treat it as a stop-the-line event — investigate the flagged transactions before closing. An out-of-balance ledger means a downstream posting is missing.
